Although
I am a martial arts instructor by trade, my greater mission and forte
in life is helping children develop self-confidence, self-control,
and self-esteem through strengthening their discipline and concentration.
Through years of interacting with kids, I have found that a fun, interactive
atmosphere greatly quickens students' development.
At the same time, I consider it essential to temper this open approach by:
1.) Developing the students' abilities to listen and concentrate on
tasks on hand.
2.) Teaching students to exercise self-discipline and respect for others.

My new students
are required, before anything else, to demonstrate safety awareness
and self-control. Our classes start out with simple exercises and
routines. Only when a student can make responsible use of equipment,
and can follow simple sets of directions in a group setting, will
he or she be allowed to learn actual self-defense techniques.
In order to advance through the martial arts ranks, we also require
that students demonstrate strong, consistent effort in their school
assignments and home duties. Self-defense is only one aspect of martial
